The Many Faces of Canaan

So, wow. It's been almost a month. I apologize to anyone out there who ever checks this. I'm not too great at this keeping up thing, which is why I started a blog in the first place, to help me keep up! What would I do without this then?

Here's a thing we made: Sam took these pictures one day when Canaan was in his car seat. He made all of these faces in the span of five minutes. He's a character!

For the Love of Many

Hey y'all. Just thought I'd let anyone who's interested know that Sam and another guy at our church, John Mark, do a blog together. They do it to put up good quotes they read, articles or blog posts they find, anything that affected them and they want to share.

Sam just put up a couple of links today that are really good. The one at Desiring God was really good for me this morning when I was feeling crummy.

You can read that blog at fortheloveofmany.blogspot.com. They're fancier than we are here at "The Land" and have good music you can listen to while you read.

Our little old man

We thought this picture was pretty funny. As one observer noted, "Who replaced Canaan with the 60-year-old man??" Poor guy.

As of late

So I thought I'd give an update for all the out-of-towners that read this, since it's been a while.

We just finished watching the Florida Gators cream the Georgia Bulldogs. It was a sad game to watch... we didn't even score a touchdown until the end of the 4th quarter. Tim Tebow (the Florida QB) knocked our socks off. I suppose in some ways we deserved it after our big celebration last year, after only the first touchdown of the game...

As of December 1, Sam is going to be the official owner of what has been his boss' business. We're really excited about this and after a few months of not being sure if we should buy it or not, really feel the Lord's confirmation in a few different ways. Mike, the former owner, has been so good to us and we're grateful for him! It seems to be a relationship that the Lord just brought about in order to really bless us.

We're going to visit my mom for a couple of days to enjoy the beautiful (hopefully beautiful!) fall weather in the mountains. We're really looking forward to having a little getaway with her.

Canaan really has grown a lot and we're having a blast with him as he gets more and more expressive. His dad can make him crack up, in his own 2-month-old way, of course. We think it's about the best thing ever when he smiles. He's sleeping better and better at nights which is great. He's had his first cold the last few days, though, and doesn't like that nose sucker. I don't blame him; I always hated it, too.

I thought by now I'd have figured out how to put videos up here, but nope. Here's another picture of Canaan until I find something else to post on here. Someday we'll start actually taking pictures with a real camera instead of the one attached to the computer. It's not the most recent or anything... I'm not sure if he'd still fit like this, but I thought it was sweet.

Text Twist

May I present my favorite computer game to play (at the moment). Try it out... enjoy!

C&C

Here's a shot of Canaan and I, a little more current of him, since he changes every week right now! He seems huge to us, but he's still pretty small - a little over 10 pounds at the pediatrician's office yesterday.

Happy Birthday, boys!

Both of the boys here celebrated birthdays recently. Sam turned 24 a week ago today (Thursday) and Canaan turned 1 month on the 6th. Yay!!

For Sam's birthday, he got some of his favorite coffee in the morning and we went out to eat that night to his favorite restaurant - Five Star Day Cafe, where he got his classic meatloaf and mashed potatoes, which I have to say, is really good. Then we went to a bar with some friends - actually, it's called something different but we can never remember, a tavern or something? - called Trappeze in downtown Athens. Some elders from one of the big churches downtown started it and it has like, 1000 beers on tap or something. Not really, but it has a ton of them. It was really good - I actually found a beer that tasted good for once and Sam had a great time, aside from the fruit fly that decided to take a dip in his drink. Sam's parents were in for the weekend for his bday and to hang out with Canaan, so they watched him for us... it was really sweet and our first date without the little guy! The next night they took us to Outback for Sam's birthday so he could get a big juicy steak. Yum.

For Canaan's one month birthday... I think we said, "Hey! It's Canaan's one month birthday!" For him, a celebration is when he gets to eat, which is almost all the time, so I think he was happy on his one month birthday! For Sam and I, it's been such a great month, and a total whirlwind. For Canaan, I imagine it's been a good month - what can you say about someone's first month on earth? It must be crazy in a lot of ways!

Here's a shot of the birthday boys - this is how Canaan is right after he has one of his celebrations:
